Proofday (getproofday.com)

This notice explains what information Proofday collects when you visit getproofday.com, use the free quick preview, or buy a Website Launch Check, how we use it, who receives it, and how long we keep it.
What we collect
When you buy a Website Launch Check
Checkout runs on Stripe's hosted payment page. Stripe collects your payment details and the billing information its checkout asks for, such as your name, card details, and billing country or postal code. Proofday does not receive or store your full card number.
From Stripe, Proofday receives and stores an order record containing:
- your email address,
- the website URL you ask us to check,
- the optional "visitor goal" note you enter,
- Stripe identifiers (checkout session ID and event ID), an internal order ID, order status, timestamps, the report's verdict and issue counts, and technical error notes if a run fails.
You can also view your payment in Stripe's records and in the receipt Stripe may send you.
Please submit public website URLs and avoid including passwords, access tokens, or other confidential information in your submission.
The report
We review publicly accessible pages of the website you submit, up to 10 pages, and create a PDF report containing screenshots and findings. The report may include personal information displayed on those pages, such as names, photographs, or contact details. It also includes the email address associated with your order.
To create the report, an automated browser on our hosting provider loads those pages the way a visitor would. This means the website you submit, and any third-party services that website uses, will see requests from our servers.
Free quick preview (/scan)
- We fetch the URL you enter, plus a sample of up to 8 links on that page, to produce the preview, and send the results back to your browser. Our preview code does not save the URL or results to our storage. Our hosting provider's logs may record that a preview request was made (see "Logs" below).
- To prevent abuse of the free preview, we store a hashed identifier derived from your IP address or network prefix, together with recent request timestamps. This rate-limit record does not contain your full IP address. A hash of an IP address can still be linked to that address by someone who already knows it, so we treat these records as personal information, not as anonymous data. Our hosting provider separately maintains operational and security logs that may contain IP addresses and request details.
Email
If you write to proofday.connect@gmail.com, or reply to a report email, we keep your message, your email address, and anything you include so we can reply and handle support, retests, and refunds.
Logs
Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps operational and security logs, which may include IP addresses, request paths, timestamps, and error messages. Our email provider (Resend) keeps records of the emails it sends for us.
Cookies and tracking
getproofday.com does not use analytics, advertising cookies, or third-party tracking scripts. Report emails are sent with open and click tracking turned off. Stripe's checkout page may use cookies and similar technologies for payment, security, and fraud prevention; see Stripe's privacy policy and cookie policy.
How we use it
- To run the check you paid for and email you the report.
- To provide your included retest, answer support requests, and process refunds.
- To prevent abuse of the free preview and keep the service secure.
- To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use your email for marketing unless you ask us to.
Service providers and other recipients
- Stripe handles checkout, payments, receipts, and refunds, and receives your payment details, email, billing details, and the checkout fields (website URL and visitor goal). Stripe processes some of this data for us, and also uses some of it as an independent controller for its own purposes, such as fraud prevention and meeting its legal obligations. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Vercel hosts the website and runs the preview, the report engine, and our background jobs. It stores order records, report PDFs, and rate-limit records in a private storage area (Vercel Blob) that cannot be reached by a public URL, and it keeps operational logs. See Vercel's privacy policy.
- Resend sends the report email from reports@getproofday.com. It receives your email address, the email text (website URL, verdict, order ID), and the PDF report as an attachment. See Resend's privacy policy.
- Google (Gmail) hosts the support mailbox proofday.connect@gmail.com. It holds support emails and replies to report emails. See Google's privacy policy.
- The website you submit (and services it loads) receives automated page requests from our servers when we run a preview or a check.
- We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or prevent fraud.
These providers may store data in the United States.
How long we keep it
- Order records: kept while we provide your report, retest, and support. 90 days after an order, we automatically reduce the record to what we need for tax and recordkeeping: order ID, Stripe checkout session ID, email address, order status, and date. We keep that reduced record only as long as tax and recordkeeping law requires.
- Report PDFs (including the screenshots inside them) are automatically deleted from our storage 90 days after the report is delivered. The copy attached to your email stays in your mailbox and in our email provider's sent-mail records under its own retention.
- Rate-limit records are automatically deleted after 2 days without a new preview request. Only the last 24 hours of timestamps are used to decide whether a preview is allowed.
- Support email is kept while needed to handle your request, and reviewed for deletion after 3 years unless we still need it for refund, dispute, or accounting records.
- Temporary files created while a report is being generated are deleted when the run finishes.
- Hosting and email-provider logs are kept according to each provider's own retention settings.
- Stripe keeps its own payment records under its policies.
Your choices
Email proofday.connect@gmail.com to ask what information we hold about you, or to correct or delete your order record and report. To protect your data, we will ask you to send the request from the email address used for the order, or to confirm order details. We aim to respond within 30 days. We may keep information we are required to retain for legal, tax, or accounting purposes, or to resolve disputes, and we will tell you if we do. Deleting your data from our systems does not delete records that Stripe holds as an independent controller, or copies of emails already delivered to you.
Security
We use private storage, restricted access keys, and HTTPS. No system is completely secure.
Children
Proofday is a business service and is not directed to children under 13.
